This week we’ve got one of my new favourite producers B34N5 for our feature The Tens. First off I’m surprised I kept this going for a whole month, tracking down artists and getting them to commit to this is a lot harder than you think it would be but a huge thanks to the people who have already done it.
I first took notice of B34N5 about a month ago when I stumbled across his Eyes On Fire edit but what really made me take notice was his Sail remix. Before then all I’d heard from him was edits but this was a full remix, after talking with him I found out that he makes a lot more music but never puts it up because he isn’t 100% happy with it, I think that sense of perfection is what will help him get more and more fans of his music.
Still waiting on the release of the mastered version so I can bump it, drop it and hopefully pass it on to DJs.
The aim of this feature is to get to know different artists and their musical make-up, every week I look forward to hearing what these guys listen to and every week I’m surprised. It’s pretty dope to see the individual influences and piece together their own sound. Head past the break to see the usual five favourite songs and five influences.

When it comes to my top 5 favorite songs (and that’s hard to do because I truly love all music) but dubstep/E.D.M. wise, I’m really feeling the new Eptic Like a Boss EP from Never Say Die Records, especially Deathray and Oh Snap.

Bare – Fahrenheit

I’ve always loved the stuff that Bare has been cranking out lately. Fahrenheit is by far his most different work he’s done recently (and I F*CKING LOVE IT!!!)
Mark Instinct – Apollo
Mark Instinct is always tearing sh*t up as well, I’m really stoked for his release of Apollo coming here soon.
Grimblee – Epic Death
However, when it comes to unheard talent, I recently stumbled upon a fellow producer by the name of Grimblee, and might I just say his track took my mind and ideas to a WHOLE ‘NOTHER LEVEL!!! Crushed Bits got me hooked on Grimblee but Epic Death is fighting for the #1 favorite song slot right now (both of those tracks are straight HEATERS!!!).
B34N5′s Influences:
As for 5 songs that have influenced me to write music, that’s quite a bit more difficult to nail down (again, I have to many influences…). I will say this though, if I hadn’t been raised off of classic rock and roll (Aerosmith, ACDC, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, and even Pink Floyd) I definitely wouldn’t be nearly as musically inclined as I am now.
So how about 5 bands/producers that influenced me to make music (especially electronic).
Pink Floyd was my very first influence to the more “different” (but awesome none-the-less) side of music. I’ve been a junkie ever since. Led Zepplin took me down the more rock/jam type of music and Black Sabbath got me started on the heavier side of things. It was all down hill from there…
I started listening to electronic music in the early 2000′s (I’m only 18 so…) and it started with Infected Mushroom, Tiesto and Deadmau5 (the bigger names at the time). I loved trance/house/steady beat music even some drum n’ bass, but as soon as I heard my 1st dubstep smasher on my 16th birthday (Kid Sister – Pro Nails (Rusko Remix) my life was changed.
Fell into the DatsiK & Excision/Borgore thing for a bit (because I was really looking for the filthier side of dubstep) and then stumbled upon this BARE fellow I mentioned earlier (real nice guy *in person*). His sound and style really got me into the music and made me want to start making my own.
And thats how I got to be where I am today. Hope that helps bring you all into my world a little bit! Thanks for the read! (Sorry for the rant but music is my passion and isn’t anything easy to explain hahaha)
